Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. - 1st Peter ch4
Both at home and around the world, Milliken Presbyterian Church supports programs to bring Gods love to those in need. While we are continually finding new and exciting programs to become involved with, others have remained as a regular part of our mission activities. Here are some of the programs we are or have been involved with recently. If you have questions about any of these mission programs please contact us at

Christmas Joy Offering - Milliken Presbyterian Church has long celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ by giving generously to a Christmas season offering. Fifty percent of the receipts to the Christmas Joy Offering are distributed to the eight Presbyterian-related racial ethnic schools and colleges. The other fifty percent supports the Board of Pensions for assistance programs that provide support to retired and active church workers and their spouses and families.
Milliken Presbyterian partners with Kids Hope USA to make the difference in children's lives right here in our community. Partnering with the Milliken Grade School, One child, one hour is the heart of KIDS HOPE USA. One caring adult mentoring an at-risk child one hour every week. Because when kids feel loved and valued, they are better able to learn, grow, and succeed. If you would like more information about the program please visit the Kids Hope website at www.kidshopeusa.org
Souper Bowl - The Souper Bowl is a simple effort to "love the Lord our God ..and love our neighbors" by encouraging people to give one dollar each as they leave worship on, or near, Super Bowl Sunday. Every penny collected is sent directly to a local soup kitchen, food bank or other similar charity in support of local hunger programs. Most recently we have been helping to fund the Johnsons Corner food pantry.
Local Missions - Each Fall the MPC Presbyterian Women's group have collected School Supplies for those children who might not otherwise be able to start the school year with the same advantages as other children. Winter coats, warm socks, and whatever seems to be needed are collected to help those locally who may have that need. Each year, Thanksgiving Food Baskets, are distributed to families who may not otherwise have a Thanksgiving meal.
One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) - Since 1949, Presbyterians have joined with millions of other Christians through One Great Hour of Sharing to share God’s love with people experiencing need. Our gifts support these ministries:
- Presbyterian Disaster Assistance for disaster response and ministries with refugees and ministries addressing homelessness and affordable housing
- Presbyterian Hunger Program for ministries working to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes, responding with compassion and justice to poor and hungry people in local communities, in the nation, and throughout the world.
- Self-Development of People for partnerships with groups of people who are oppressed by poverty or social systems, who want to take charge of their own lives, have organized to do something about their own condition, and have decided what they need to do to produce long-term benefits for themselves.
Recognizing that the hope we have in Christ is lived out in our hope for one another, we respond with gifts that help our sisters and brothers around the world find the hope for a brighter future. For more about these programs please visit http://www.pcusa.org/oghs/index.htm
