Mission
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others,
faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone
speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If
anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so
that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.
- 1st Peter ch4
Both at home and around the world, Milliken Presbyterian supports programs to bring Gods love to
those in need. While we are continually finding new and exciting programs to become involved with,
others have remained as a regular part of our mission activities. Here are some of the programs we
are or have been involved with recently. If you have questions about any of these mission programs or would like to make a donation to any one of them, please contact us at mpcmission@millikenpres.org
Milliken Presbyterian partners with Kids Hope USA to make the difference in children's lives right here in our community. Partnering with the Milliken Grade School, One child, one hour is the heart of KIDS HOPE USA. One caring adult mentoring an at-risk child one hour every week. Because when kids feel loved and valued, they are better able to learn, grow, and succeed. If you would like more information about the program please visit the Kids Hope website at www.kidshopeusa.org
PB&J - An after school ministry to provide a midweek Christian education ministry for children
which focuses upon building Christian relationships between young people and Jesus Christ.
Souper Bowl - The Souper Bowl is a simple effort to "love the Lord our God ..and love our
neighbors" by encouraging people to give one dollar each as they leave worship on, or near, Super
Bowl Sunday. Every penny collected is sent directly to a local soup kitchen, food bank or other
similar charity in support of local hunger programs. Most recently we have been helping to fund the
Johnsons Corner food pantry.
Habitat for Humanity - Supporting the Greeley Chapter of Habitat for Humanity both financially
and with volunteers in their efforts to eliminate substandard housing and making homeownership a
dream that can come true for those who would otherwise might never have a chance to own their
own home.
Local Missions - Each Fall the Presbyterian Women's group have collected School Supplies for those
children who might not otherwise be able to start the school year with the same advantages as other
children. Winter coats, warm socks, and whatever seems to be needed are collected to help those locally
who may have that need. Each year, Thanksgiving Food Baskets, are distributed to families who may not
otherwise have a Thanksgiving meal.
OGHS - For more than fifty years, Presbyterians have joined with Christians throughout the nation in
supporting One Great Hour of Sharing. The hundreds of millions of dollars Presbyterians have given over
the last half century have enabled a powerful witness to the love of the One who came that all might have
life more abundantly. Gifts are divided among three primary programs:
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance for disaster response and ministries with refugees and ministries
addressing homelessness and affordable housing
Presbyterian Hunger Program for ministries working to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes,
responding with compassion and justice to poor and hungry people in local communities, in the
nation, and throughout the world.
Self-Development of People for partnerships with groups of people who are oppressed by poverty
or social systems, who want to take charge of their own lives, have organized to do something
about their own condition, and have decided what they need to do to produce long-term benefits
for themselves.

income is around $150; the current life expectancy is 36 years. Health problems abound, and many of
them are related to water-borne disease. For more about this program ( www.marionmedical.org )
Pakistan Missionaries - Support of George & Gail McBane efforts to share the gospel with the
Mehgwals in Pakistan has been a long standing overseas mission.
Christmas Joy Offering - Presbyterians have long celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ by giving
generously to a Christmas season offering. Fifty percent of the receipts to the Christmas Joy Offering
are distributed to the eight Presbyterian-related racial ethnic schools and colleges. The other fifty
percent supports the Board of Pensions for assistance programs that provide support to retired and
active church workers and their spouses and families.
Casa Hogar is a Christian based orphanage located in Chihuahua Mexico. Since April 2000, Milliken Presbyterian Church has supported its efforts in caring for children both financially and with involvement in mission trips to the orphanage.
