Nursery Care Giver Job Description
Reports to Pastor and Personnel Committee
PURPOSE
To greet, play with and care for children under five years of age in the Milliken
Presbyterian Church (MPC) nursery. The hours are 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Sundays.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our Mission is to reach out and actively engage with others by sharing our Christian
faith, worshipping, studying the Bible, praying, and serving God in our families, our
community, and our world.
QUALIFCATIONS REQUIRED
• Infant & child CPR and First Aid Certification. (Within the first 60 days of
employment).
• Experience changing diapers and feeding bottles to babies.
• Attendance at a Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training at MPC.
• Over 21 years of age.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Arrive no later than 9:00 a.m.
• Welcome the children into the nursery at drop-off time.
• Greet parents/grandparents and have an information card for each child filled out
and on file by the parent/grandparent.
• Change diapers, feed bottles, and general comfort to babies and toddlers.
• Play with and interact with all children in the nursery.
• Work with the volunteer from MPC who will be in the nursery with you.
• Wipe down toys, shelves and books that have been used during nursery time.
Rotate toys every two weeks.
• General straightening and cleaning of nursery at the end of the shift.
• Release children to parents or authorized persons at pick-up time.
• Work with MPC volunteer to make nursery experience safe and fun for children.
• Inform Pastor when supplies are running low.
• Attend a Prevention of Sexual Misconduct training provided and required by the
church. This is paid time.
• Have a clean criminal background check completed, paid for by the church.
• Assist with a parishioner who has special needs and is sometimes in the nursery
PAY:
• $13.00 per hour
• Some additional shifts may be available and negotiated depending on church
functions.
• Status: Part-time, per contract hour.
